Scan to Computer on MacOS

Note: For best chances of success, it is recommended that a proper scan driver is installed. If the customer simply plugs the printer into their PC with a

USB cable, it will print but may not scan. The Full Software Solution driver is recommended for best support but the Basic Drivers offered by HP include 

the scan driver by default. See HP Printer Setup for Windows or HP Printer Setup for MacOS for more details.

HP Easy Scan

Works on Mac OS 11.0 & older.

HP Easy Scan is the MacOS equivalent of HP Scan and Capture and functions nearly identically despite being a different application for different architecture.

On first startup, you will be prompted by the application settings to choose a printer. This will only automatically the first time the application is started.

Again, the customer will invariably ask if they have to do this every time. They don't.

Operation

Similar to Scan & Capture, all you have to do is open the application and click Scan. Rather than selecting between document or photo, HP Easy Scan opts

for various presets. You can create and save your own if you'd like. Click the “Add” until you've scanned all your pages.

When finished, go to File → Save on the top bar of the Mac to save your scans.

Image Capture

Comes preinstalled on Mac OS

After connecting a scanner to your Mac, use Image Capture to scan images. If your scanner has an automatic document feeder,

you can scan several pages at once. If you have a flatbed scanner, you can scan multiple images, straighten any that were placed

crooked on the scan bed, and save each image to its own file.

1. Connect your scanner to your computer, then turn on your scanner.

2. In the Image Capture app on your Mac, select your scanner in the Devices or Shared list.

• If you don’t see your scanner in the list, see Set up a scanner.
  

3. Scan your images.

• If you have a scanner with an automatic document feeder or flatbed scanner, see Scan images or documents using a scanner.

Tip: Some scanners indicate how an item is positioned on the scanner, so you can adjust it on the scanner before scanning. If you don’t

see the Orientation buttons in the Scanner window, click Show Details.
